Macclesfield Primary School are proud to be associated with the Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeaters. Each year six students volunteer to be our schools ambassadors and take part in a range of activities to learn more about the plight of the Helmeted Honeyeater. Their role also involves them teaching others both at school and in the wider community.
Each year students plant trees in the Yellingbo Reserve as a major part of the project. This year students in grade 1/2 propitiated seeds of indigenous plants and looked after them in their classrooms until they were ready to be potted up and grown on in the Yellingbo Reserve Plant Nursery. Grade 3/4 students later planted the shrubs, grasses and trees in the Yellingbo Reserve.
